About Constance Lim (12 Axioms of Optimal Living)
Constance Lim is a personal finance strategist and an aspiring life coach who has concluded a 20-year career in the private wealth management industry. She graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business degree specialising in Banking, and has also attained the following certifications: Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). She is also an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Q : Tell us more about yourself
I am a typical working mother who happened to have experienced personal setback very early in my working life. My husband and I were nearly financially ruined. I battled with my pregnancy weight gain. These are really precious life lessons and I am glad that I survived them to be able to share it with you in my book.
Q : Share with us your Mrs Singapore contest experience
I joined the competition to keep a promise to myself after I achieved my weight loss goal. Being a beauty queen title holder motivated and expedited my book writing. I believe it adds colour to my life story.
Q : What is health, wealth and happiness according to 12 Axioms of Optimal Living?
Health, wealth and happiness are three very inter-related personal aspects. Health is the resource of everyday’s life, not the objective of living. I am a strong believer that what we eat on daily basis really has the bigger impact on our physical health and mental health. The food we eat is very important, so I really want to encourage all of us to replace the word eating with nourishing and therefore choose quality over quantity when it comes to food intake and eat less. Wealth to me is a very wide topic; it is not just about having money. Happiness to me is really simple. It is a positive, mental and emotional state. We all have happiness in our genes. Besides, I realized that we can actually learn and practice to be happy.
I believe that there isn’t a point of arrival in achieving health, wealth & happiness. Having and pursuing these attributes is really a life long journey. I am still work-in-progress and learning every day. We learn and grow with each choice we make. Life is about keeping things simple.
Q : What do you during your free time?
I like to have “me time” when I am free. I just sit on the sofa, keep still and quiet. Those are the times I begin to put things into perspective, having quiet time to put myself into other people’s shoes and probably understand myself better. I believe we have our inner strength to solve our problems. We just have to adjust and tune ourselves. As I do this and practise this more often, I realized that we all have an inner strength that can be tuned to figure things out by ourselves. I encourage all of you to have “me time” on a regular basis.

Q : What inspired you to write this book?
I felt that what I have gone through so far, be it the management of personal finances and investment, making changes to eat healthily and lose weight to maintain a strong and clear mind and my near death experience, should be put into a place, therefore my book. I hope that what I have shared in this book will interest you.

Health, wealth and happiness are attributes that everyone wishes for, be it for themselves, their family or their friends. So, anyone can read my book.
